Please keep the following in mind:
In winter, wildlifecreatures living on the mountain heaths and in the woods of the Black Forest have to rely on the fat reserves they built up in autumn in order to brave the adverse conditions of the cold season. Many of these animals fight to survive. It is therefore very important that they have a quiet area where they can withdraw and be undisturbed, so that they can preserve as much energy as possible. When we (above all, snowshoe hikers and ski tourers) go off piste cross-country intruding upon the areas where the animals are hibernating, reserves of strength which they urgently need to survive are unnecessarily wasted due to stress or flight. Therefore, you should definitely stay on the marked slopes, snowshoe trails, cross-country trails and other paths. Do not follow any animals or animal tracks. Keep dogs on a lead. Be as quiet as possible in the great outdoors. And please leave the woods when it starts to get dark.
