Herrenwieser See

Lake Herrenwieser See, with its moorland vegetation in the silted-up areas, is a popular hiking destination at the end of a 3 km-long path northeast of Herrenwies. It lies at an altitude of 834 meters above sea level covering a surface of 1.8 hectares. It was formed 120,000 to 60,000 years ago, is 9.5 m deep and contains 111,000 cubic meters of water. The cirque headwall is 170 m high, making it the highest in the northern Black Forest.
