Sankenbachfälle

From the deer park in Sankenbachtal – south of Baiersbronn – there is a hiking trail to Sankenbachsee. An impressive wonder of nature is the waterfall Sankenbachfälle, tumbling 40 meters down the slope of the headwall of a cirque, and which is triggered by manually opening the wooden sluice.

Here visitors can take nature into their own hands and make the waterfall go rushing down by using the wooden lever to open the gate. The dammed water in the pool then plunges down into the valley.

There are some benches near the hut at the upper end of the path along the waterfalls where you can stop for a rest. From there you have a view over Sankenbachsee as well as over the big Sankenbach cirque lake.
